20 years ago Veerle Swenters & Pierre Bogaerts ended up in the shoe industry as Veerle's father was a shoemaker in Antwerp. 2 years later they started the SONS project. In a first phase, they collected data from artists, which was a challenge in itself. Veerle and Pierre wrote their letters and letters, spent hours on the phone,... it was a huge task. They sent more than a thousand letters to the most famous artists in the world: Arman, Baselitz, Fabre, Long, Panamarenko, Pistoletto, Richter, Wesselman, etc. They soon received positive reactions, which motivated us to continue the project. Spontaneously, the artists transformed their shoes into art objects.

Hence the title: “Shoes Or No Shoes? ”
